The Karina N. Williams Scholarship Fund was established to commemorate the extraordinary life and legacy of Karina Nikole Williams. Karina, affectionately known as KK, was an avid athlete and a true lover of sports. She made a name for herself as a star varsity basketball athlete at Northshore High School, leaving a lasting impact on her teammates and coaches.
Karina Nikole Williams, affectionately known as KK, was a radiant figure whose passion for sports and commitment to excellence left an enduring legacy. A star varsity basketball player at Northshore High School (Class of 2012), her dedication resonated far beyond the court.
“In May 2021, she achieved her lifelong ambition, graduating from the University of Houston and demonstrating an unwavering commitment to learning.”
A tragic turn of events on September 24, 2021, prematurely extinguished Karina’s bright future, leaving an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who cherished her. In her honor, Karina’s family, in collaboration with the Galena Park Independent School District, established the Karina N. Williams Scholarship Fund.
This fund is our tribute to KK: a commitment to empowering deserving students to chase their dreams with the same fervor she did. Through education, her legacy continues to illuminate the path for the leaders of tomorrow.
In the spirit of Karina’s passion for education and her unwavering desire to help others, the Karina N. Williams Scholarship aims to provide deserving students with financial support to pursue their college dreams.
To apply, candidates must submit a completed application form, a personal essay detailing their aspirations and how they embody Karina’s spirit, and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, or community leader. Applications open on January 1st and close on April 30th each year.

The scholarship provides $5,000 to selected recipients, intended to cover tuition and educational expenses. Recipients will be notified by June 1st, and the award will be paid directly to the college or university in August.
